LUBA 2 Poor Positioning Status: RTK Troubleshooting

Poor Positioning Status appears when the mower, RTK reference station, or their connection cannot provide a reliable fixed position. The fastest diagnosis is to separate sky-view trouble from mower-to-station connection trouble.

Quick answer

Confirm the RTK station is powered with the expected solid-green status, give both mower and RTK open sky, and move the mower away from walls or obstacles at the failure point.

Fix it in this order

  1. Check RTK power first
Inspect the power connection and adapter. Mammotion directs owners to confirm the RTK LED is on and solid green before investigating the lawn.
  2. Inspect the RTK sky view
The reference station needs a broad, unobstructed view. Roofs, walls, dense branches, and nearby structures can reduce usable satellite data.
  3. Move the mower into open sky
Test the mower in an open area. Recovery there suggests the original boundary or passage is signal-blocked.
  4. Read the app details
Distinguish satellite/co-viewing quality from the connection to the reference station. Many satellites do not guarantee a fixed solution if signal quality or the reference link is weak.
  5. Inspect the failure point
If only one edge fails, look behind and above the mower for a wall, hedge, tree canopy, or structure. Adjust the boundary away from the obstruction if needed.
  6. Wait before remapping
After changing placement or restarting, allow time for positioning to stabilize. Avoid deleting the map until hardware placement and status are understood.

What usually causes this?

Poor sky visibility at the mower or RTK station, loss of RTK power, excessive distance or barriers between devices, and a boundary placed too close to obstructions are primary categories.

How to verify the fix

The positioning state should remain fixed/stable both near the RTK station and at the former trouble spot. Test a small area before an unattended mow.

Do not skip this check: a cleared message is not proof of a repair. Confirm the mower completes the affected action under supervision before restoring unattended schedules.

When to contact support

Capture the app’s positioning-detail screen, RTK LED state, exact map location, photos of both sky views, and firmware versions.

Stop troubleshooting and contact the manufacturer if you find damaged wiring, swelling, burning odor, water inside electrical parts, or repeated failures after the documented checks.
